Revision of the AMLA and Introduction of a Transparency Register
New rules to combat money laundering and the financing of terrorism are expected to take effect in Switzerland from mid-2026. One of the key changes concerns the inclusion of consultants under the Anti-Money Laundering Act (AMLA), provided they assist in the formation, structuring, domiciliation, or administration of non-operational legal entities (so- called “domiciliary or shell companies”), or are involved in substantial real estate transactions (> CHF 5 million).
In addition, a non-public Transparency Register will be introduced. It will record the names of the beneficial owners of companies governed by Swiss private law as well as certain legal entities governed by foreign law. Access will be granted in particular to regulated financial intermediaries as well as law enforcement and supervisory authorities.
