Patrick Meyer has been practicing law in the financial services industry for about 20 years and joined Mercury Compliance AG as a partner in 2013. Previously, he worked for nine years as a banking and regulatory lawyer for a big-four audit firm in Zurich, where he headed the Regulatory & Compliance Practise.

Prior to this engagement, Patrick worked for several years in the banking sector in Switzerland and abroad, at last as Head Legal & Compliance at a bank based in Zurich. Patrick started his legal career in a commercial law firm in Luzern, where he also completed his bar examination.

Over the last years, Patrick has gained extensive experience in advising Swiss and international banks, securities dealers, collective investment schemes and asset managers in all fields of financial services law and regulatory compliance. Moreover, Patrick has led various large national and international compliance projects as well as FINMA audit engagements.

Patrick completed his law degree (lic. iur.) at the University of Fribourg, Switzerland in 1997 and holds a master in international banking and finance law (LL.M.) of the University of Zurich. He is a qualified Swiss Attorney-at-Law since 1998 and has received accreditation as AML lead auditor from the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority FINMA in 2009.

He frequently publishes technical articles on financial services law topics and is a regular speaker on current legal and regulatory developments at leading conferences.

Patrick is registered with the cantonal attorney’s register in Zurich and admitted to all courts in Switzerland.
